The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) is the labor union for singers, dancers, and staging staff who work in opera, ballet, contemporary dance, and concert choral performance in the United States. With many members, AGMA works to protect the jobs and rights of its members. It negotiates agreements to make sure that workers have fair and safe conditions.

AGMA has a special charter from the AFL–CIO and is connected to the AFL–CIO Branch of the Associated Actors and Artists of America and the Department for Professional Employees. It is also part of the Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds, helping to support performing artists in many different ways.

Jurisdiction

The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) helps its members get fair and safe jobs. It makes and follows over 65 agreements across the country. AGMA also works with another union, the Actors' Equity Association, to share rules for Broadway shows.

History

AGMA started in 1936 to help opera singers who were asked to sign unfair contracts. Since then, the group has grown to include dancers, choir singers, and staff who help put on shows.
