Aspidaeglina

Aspidaeglina was an extinct group of tiny sea creatures that lived long ago. It belonged to a class of animals called trilobites. Trilobites were like ancient bugs with hard shells that swam in the oceans.

These trilobites existed during a time called the Arenig stage of the Ordovician Period. This happened from about 473 to 470 million years ago. Even though we can’t see them today, scientists have found fossils. These fossils help us learn about these fascinating creatures and the world they lived in.

Distribution

The fossil A. miranda was found in the Czech Republic during a time called the Lower Ordovician, in a place known as the Arenig stage in the Klabava Formation. Another fossil, A. striata, was found in China, also from the Lower Ordovician, in an area called the Pagoda Formation in southwestern Shaanxi.
