What Was Celmus?

Celmus was an ancient group of small sea creatures called trilobites. These were special types of arthropods, which means they had hard shells and jointed legs, like modern crabs and spiders. Celmus lived in the oceans during the Ordovician Period, a time long ago, about 471 to 478 million years back.

This genus, or group, of trilobites is important for scientists who study Earth's history. By looking at fossils of Celmus and other trilobites, they can learn about the ancient seas and how life has changed over millions of years. The trilobites were one of the first groups of animals with complex bodies to appear in the fossil record, helping us understand how life evolved in the oceans.
