Censorship of Roblox
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
Roblox is a popular online game platform where millions of people, especially kids, go to play, create, and have fun. But sometimes, some governments and authorities decide to block or limit access to Roblox. This is called censorship, and it means that people in certain countries can’t easily visit the site or play games there.
The reasons for censorship can vary. Sometimes, it’s because the platform doesn’t follow certain rules set by the country’s leaders. Other times, it might be because some people believe the games or chat spaces aren’t safe or appropriate.
Being blocked can be frustrating for players who rely on Roblox for entertainment, learning, and connecting with friends. It also affects developers who use the platform to build and share their own creative projects. Understanding why these decisions happen helps us see how online spaces are managed around the world.
Countries where access to Roblox is permanently blocked
Roblox has been blocked in several countries because leaders worry about children’s safety online. For example, Algeria banned Roblox in September 2025 because they felt the company wasn’t doing enough to keep kids safe.
In China, Roblox is blocked because the government wants to control what people see online. In Egypt, Roblox was banned in February 2026 to protect children from unsafe internet use. Other countries like Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Russia, and Turkey have also blocked Roblox to keep children safe from harmful content and talking to strangers online.
Countries where access to Roblox is blocked for certain ages
Indonesia
On 28 March 2026, Indonesia blocked Roblox for people under the age of 16. The country thought the platform had content that could be harmful. They also worried about issues like cyberbullying, fraud, and things that could lead to addiction. Before this, many young people in Indonesia played Roblox, and most of them were under 16. In response, Roblox said they would try to create a special offline mode for users under 13 and add stricter rules for those aged 13 to 15.
Countries where access to Roblox was formerly blocked
In 2020, Jordan stopped people from using Roblox because of worries about children’s safety. This was because children might see bad language or be tricked online. By December 2025, Roblox was allowed again after agreeing to turn off chat features and hide certain content.
In August 2025, Kuwait also stopped Roblox to keep children safe from harmful material. The block happened after parents and others said there was risky content. Roblox was allowed back later after adding extra safety rules, like disabling chat and watching for inappropriate behavior.
In 2018, the United Arab Emirates banned Roblox along with a few other apps. By 2021, the ban was lifted, and Roblox could be downloaded again from places like the App Store and Google Play.
