Flathead Valley Community College

Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) is a public community college in Kalispell, Montana. It offers many educational programs and courses. Students can use these to learn new skills or get ready for jobs. FVCC helps people in the area get access to education. Students can pick from different subjects to help them succeed.

History

The college began in 1967. It is one of three two-year schools in the state that are not part of the University of Montana System, Montana State University System, or the tribal college system. The school offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in 24 different subjects. It also has special degrees to help people with substance abuse and for nursing. In 2015, it added a degree in Brewing Science and built a brewery on campus for students to learn in.

The school's sports teams were called the Mountaineers and Mountainettes. The Mountainettes won national championships in track and field and cross country racing in the 1970s.

Administration

Flathead Valley Community College is run by a group of elected board members. They pick a president to handle the college's everyday work. The current president is Jane A. Karas.

Flathead Valley Community College has been attended by some well-known people. Frank Garner is a law enforcement officer and a member of the Montana House of Representatives. Braxton Mitchell is also a member of the Montana House of Representatives.
