Hawaii Department of Transportation

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is a state government group that helps people travel in the U.S. state of Hawaii. It makes sure travel is safe and easy, whether by plane, boat, or car.

HDOT has three main parts. One part takes care of airports and flying. Another part handles boats and sea travel. The third part works on roads and driving. All these help connect the islands of Hawaii and make travel smooth for everyone.

HDOT Divisions

Airports Division

The HDOT Airports Division takes care of all public airports in the state, including Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. It has different offices and teams to help with tasks like visitor information, technology, and airport operations. There are special teams for each island, such as Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai.

The division looks after many airports, including Kalaeloa Airport, Dillingham Airfield, Honolulu International Airport, and others across the islands.

Harbors Division

On July 1, 1961, the job of managing harbors was moved to the state Department of Transportation. The HDOT Harbors Division runs ten big harbors all over the state. The division makes most of its money from fees for using the harbors and wharfs.

Highways Division

The HDOT Highways Division is in charge of keeping the state highway system in good condition.
