Idempotent analysis

Idempotent analysis is a part of mathematical analysis that looks at special structures called idempotent semirings. These are interesting because they act differently from regular numbers in some ways. One good example is the tropical semiring.

In idempotent semirings, you cannot "undo" an operation, like how you cannot subtract in this system. But there is a special rule called the idempotent rule. This rule says that if you combine a number with itself using the operation, you just get the same number back. This is written as A โŠ• A = A.

Learning about these structures helps mathematicians see new ways that numbers and operations can work. It is useful in areas like optimization and computer science.
