La Polar is a big store company in Chile. It is the fourth largest store company there, after Falabella, Paris S.A, and Ripley S.A.
La Polar has 43 stores. Most of them, 38 stores, are in Chile. There are also 5 stores in Colombia.
In its stores, La Polar sells many kinds of things. You can find clothing, accessories, sports gear, beauty products, gifts, baby items, electronics, furniture, and things for the home.
Besides selling things, La Polar also offers some services. These include credit cards, insurance, and extra protection plans for big items like electronics and furniture.
Renegotiated customers' debt without consent
In June 2011, Chile’s securities regulator stopped trading for Empresas La Polar SA to investigate the company. La Polar had announced they needed to set aside an extra $430 million due to issues with how they managed store credit for customers.
