Memorial
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
A memorial is an object or place that helps people remember something important. This could be a person who has passed away or a big event in history. Memorials can be many different things, like special buildings, beautiful pieces of art, or even whole parks. Sometimes, very large memorials are called monuments.
Memorials are made so that people will never forget important moments, people, or events. They are places where people can go to think, honor, and show respect. Whether it’s a statue of a famous leader or a garden for those who helped during a hard time, memorials help keep history alive.
Types
The most common type of memorial is a gravestone or a memorial plaque. War memorials are also very common, remembering those who died in wars. Sometimes memorials are made in the shape of a cross and are called intending crosses.
Online memorials are often created on websites and social media. These let people remember someone even if they can't visit a physical place. When someone dies, families might ask for gifts to be given to a charity or for a tree to be planted in their memory. These are called grassroots memorials. Sometimes, memorials for students who have passed away are created as scholarships for future students.
Memorials that are very important to a whole country are called national memorials.
