Mercedes-Benz Fintail

The Mercedes-Benz Fintail (German: Heckflosse) is a nickname for some saloon cars made by Mercedes from 1959 to 1968. These cars are part of the W110, W111, and W112 series and replaced the earlier Ponton-series cars from 1953.
These cars had a special style with short rear fins, showing a trend that started in the United States. In Mercedes words, these fins were called Peilstege, meaning "bearing bars." They helped drivers see the end of the car when backing up.
The Fintail cars came in different types. There were four-cylinder models like the Mercedes-Benz W110, and six-cylinder models such as the Mercedes-Benz W111 and Mercedes-Benz W112. These cars included popular versions like the 190c, 200, 220b, and the fancy 300SE.
