Mirovia

Mirovia, also known as Mirovoi, was a huge ocean that scientists think may have surrounded a giant landmass called Rodinia about 1 billion to 750 million years ago. This time was called the Neoproterozoic Era. Mirovia might have been the same as or the beginning of another ocean called the Pan-African Ocean, which came after Rodinia started to break apart.

There is strong evidence that during a very cold time called the Cryogenian period, Mirovia might have frozen completely, with ice up to 2 kilometers deep. This idea is known as the Snowball Earth hypothesis. Around the same time, another ocean called Panthalassa, which was the early version of the Pacific Ocean, began to form as parts of Mirovia slowly moved under other plates of Earth's surface.
