Oshima Airport

Ōshima Airport, also called Tokyo Ōshima Camellia Airport, is located on the island of Izu Ōshima in Tokyo, Japan. The airport’s IATA code is OIM and its ICAO code is RJTO. It helps people travel to and from the beautiful island of Izu Ōshima.

History

Ōshima Airport opened in June 1964 with a runway that was 1,200 metres long. In October 2002, the runway was made longer to 1,800 metres so jet planes could use it. Starting in August 2008, All Nippon Airways flew every day to Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Another airline, New Central Airservice, began flying to Chofu Airport in 2009. However, ANA stopped its flights to Ōshima in October 2015. Since July 9, 2021, the airport has also been called Tokyo Oshima Camellia Airport.

Airlines and destinations

Before 2015, ANA Wings flew every day to Haneda Airport. Sometimes, Fuji dream airlines had special flights to Sendai Airport.

Facilities

Ōshima Airport is managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The terminal building is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It includes a restaurant, a shop, and an observation deck for visitors to view the surrounding area. The airport also has offices for the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau and the Japan Meteorological Agency.
