Petra National Trust

The Petra National Trust (PNT) is a Jordanian nongovernmental organization that started in 1989. Its main goal is to protect and preserve the amazing ancient city of Petra, which is a special place recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The PNT has helped with many important projects. These include studying the old water systems made by the Nabataean people, looking at the plants and animals in the area, and making sure the narrow pathway called the Siq stays safe. They have also worked on keeping the beautiful wall paintings at Beidha safe.

The PNT also helps train workers at the Petra Archaeological Park and teaches local people about protecting Petra’s natural and cultural treasures. Princess Majda Ra'ad helped start the trust.
