Pokémon Winds and Waves

Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are exciting new role-playing video games being made by Game Freak and brought to you by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch 2. They were announced on 27 February 2026, marking the 30th anniversary of the beloved Pokémon franchise. These games are the first titles of the tenth generation in the Pokémon video game series.

Setting

Winds and Waves will happen in a tropical archipelago that looks like Southeast Asia. The game will have many islands and special areas to explore underwater.

The starter Pokémon for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are Browt, a Grass-type; Pombon, a Fire-type; and Gecqua, a Water-type. These three were shown when the games were first announced.

Release

In 2024, details about new Pokémon games were shared online early. The games, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, were officially announced on February 27, 2026. This announcement celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise.
