Robert Hoffstetter

Robert Julien Hoffstetter was born on June 11, 1908, in Fargniers and passed away on December 29, 1999, in Gennevilliers. He was a French scientist who studied different kinds of animals, especially snakes.

Hoffstetter worked to help people understand reptiles better. He is especially known for his work on two groups of snakes called Bolyeriidae and Madtsoiidae. His studies made it easier for scientists to learn about these creatures and how they are related.

Because of his important work, Hoffstetter is remembered as a key scientist in the study of reptiles. His work helps scientists today as they learn more about the world's amazing animal life, including reptiles.

Robert Hoffstetter wrote many important books about animals and Earth’s history. Some of his well-known works include books from 1946 about reptiles, 1952 about mammals, and 1982 about animal family trees and Earth’s geography long ago. His books helped scientists learn more about ancient life.
