Timor-Leste at the Olympics
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
Introduction
Timor-Leste has joined the Summer Olympic Games since 2004. That was the first time they used their name, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. Their National Olympic Committee started in 2003.
Before that, from 1976 to 1996, Timor-Leste’s athletes competed with Indonesia. This was because the two lands were joined together at that time. In 2000, some athletes from Timor-Leste competed as Individual Olympic Athletes.
Winter Olympics
Timor-Leste has also sent athletes to three Winter Olympic Games. These games happen in very cold places with snow and ice. Even though many athletes from Timor-Leste have tried very hard, the country has not yet won an Olympic medal. But people still cheer for them!
