Trojan War

The Trojan War was a famous story from Greek mythology. It happened long ago, around the twelfth or thirteenth century BC. The war was fought by the Achaeans, who were Greeks, against the city of Troy.
The war began when Paris, a prince of Troy, took Helen from her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta. This brought together many Greek heroes and led to a long siege of Troy.
This story is very important in Greek mythology. It has been told in many books and poems. The most famous of these is Homer's Iliad. Another well-known story, the Odyssey, tells of Odysseus’s journey home after the war.
For a long time, people thought Troy might just be a myth. But in the late 1800s, an archaeologist named Heinrich Schliemann dug at a place called Hisarlık in modern-day Turkey. He found evidence that many believe was the real Troy. Some people think the Trojan War really happened, while others believe it is a mix of many old stories. Either way, the tale of the Trojan War remains a powerful part of ancient history and literature.
