Bomb It

Bomb It is an exciting documentary about graffiti and street art made by Jon Reiss. It was first shown at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. The film was shot in many cities around the world, including New York, Cape Town, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Berlin, and São Paulo. It looks at how artists use public spaces to share their art and the rules that try to control this.

Many famous graffiti artists worked with Reiss to make the film. It starts with the first modern graffiti artist, Cornbread, and includes artists like TAKI 183, Shepard Fairey, and Os Gemeos. The film also talks about how some cities make laws to change public spaces.

The New York Times said that Bomb It is not the first film to talk about the history of graffiti, and it probably won’t be the last. But what makes Jon Reiss’s lively film special is that it looks at graffiti from all over the world, giving a big, international view.

Bomb It 2

The sequel Bomb It 2 came out in 2010 as a web series for the digital network Babelgum. It continued looking at graffiti and street art in new places not shown in the first movie.

The director, Jon Reiss, traveled alone to cities like Bangkok, Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv, areas on the West Bank, Perth, Melbourne, Copenhagen, Chicago, and Austin. The film featured artists such as Klone, KnowHope, GreatBates, Zero Cents, Foma <3, INSPIRE 1, Darbotz, Killer Gerbil, Bon, Alex Face, Sloke, Husk Mit Navn, Ash, Phibs, Stormie Mills, Beejoir, and others.
