Cambodia at the Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience

Cambodia has taken part in 11 Summer Olympic Games but has never won a medal. They have also never participated in the Winter Olympic Games.

Cambodia first joined the Olympics in the 1956 Summer Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia. However, they only competed in Stockholm, Sweden, because they only took part in the equestrian events. These events were held in Sweden due to quarantine rules. Cambodia skipped the events in Melbourne because they disagreed with something called the Suez Crisis.

After the 1972 Summer Olympics, Cambodia did not join the Olympics for 24 years. This was because of difficult times during the Khmer Rouge regime. Cambodia came back to the Olympics in the 1996 Summer Olympics and has been part of every Summer Olympics since then.
