Figure skating at the 1952 Winter Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience

At the 1952 Winter Olympics, three exciting figure skating events took place. The competition began with ladies' compulsory figures on February 16 and 17 at the outdoor Jordal Amfi rink. Then, men's figures were held on February 19, followed by free skating events for ladies, men, and pairs at the large Bislett Stadium. Unlike many competitions back then, the weather stayed good, and the ice remained in great condition.

One of the most memorable moments was when Dick Button won his second Olympic gold medal. He also made history by becoming the first skater to successfully land a triple loop jump during a competition. This amazing feat showed how skilled the athletes were and excited everyone watching.
