Francesco de' Marini

Francesco de' Marini (1630–1700) was an important leader in the Roman Catholic Church. He held many important positions over his lifetime. He was the Bishop of Molfetta from 1666 to 1670 and the Bishop of Albenga from 1655 to 1666. Later, he became the Titular Archbishop of Amasea from 1671 to 1676 and then the Titular Archbishop of Teodosia from 1676 until he passed away in 1700. His work helped guide and support many people during his time in these roles.

Biography

Francesco de' Marini was born in Genoa, Italy in 1630. On 2 August 1655, he was chosen by Pope Alexander VII to be the Bishop of Albenga. A few weeks later, on 8 August 1655, he was made a bishop in a special ceremony.

Later, in 1666, Pope Alexander VII appointed him as the Bishop of Molfetta, a role he held until 1670. In 1671, Pope Clement X named him the Titular Archbishop of Amasea. Then, in 1676, he became the Titular Archbishop of Teodosia, a position he kept until he passed away in 1700.

Episcopal succession

Francesco de' Marini helped ordain many important church leaders during his time as a bishop. Some of those he worked with included Gasparo Carpegna, who became the Titular Archbishop of Nicaea in 1670, and Ippolito Vicentini, who became the Bishop of Rieti in 1671. Others included Gerolamo Passarelli, the Bishop of Isernia in 1673, and Fabio Guinigi, the Archbishop of Ravenna in 1674. Many more bishops and archbishops were ordained with his support over the years.
