Henrik Rydström

Henrik Per-Erik Rydström was born on 16 February 1976. He is a Swedish football manager and was also a player in the past. His most recent job was as the head coach for the MLS club Columbus Crew.

By 2013, he was one of the players who had worked for the same club for a very long time, being the sixth longest-serving player in the world at that time.

Career

Henrik Rydström began his career with Kalmar FF in 1994 and played his last game for them in 2013. He was a defensive midfielder known for his great passing skills and strong leadership. In 2008, he was chosen as the best club captain in Allsvenskan by other players in the league. Rydström holds the record for the most games played for Kalmar FF, with a total of 802 games.

Politics

Henrik Rydström gave speeches for the Swedish Social Democratic Party. In a podcast interview with the local newspaper Sydsvenskan, owned by the Bonnier Group, he said he wanted to work harder against the Sweden Democrats. This comment caused reactions from the Sweden Democrats in Malmö, who felt it was unfair to their voters at Eleda Stadion. His statement also changed Malmö's usual neutral approach to politics, as a press officer was present during the interview.
