Iran at the 2014 Winter Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience

Iran competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, from February 7 to February 23, 2014. This was a special moment because it was the largest team Iran had ever sent to the Winter Olympics, with five athletes taking part in two different sports.

The 2014 Games were also important because it was the first time an Iranian Olympic team competed in Russia. This happened many years after a group of countries, including Iran, did not go to the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. That boycott was because of a conflict called the Soviet–Afghan War.
