Jolanda Jones

Jolanda Felicia Jones was born on November 6, 1965. She is an American attorney, politician, and television personality. She has also worked as a city councilor and was a heptathlete, which means she competed in seven different track and field events.
Jones is a member of the Democratic Party. Since May 18, 2022, she has served in the Texas House of Representatives, where she represents the 147th district. Her work focuses on helping people and making laws that support families and communities.
Biography
Jolanda Jones was born in Houston's Third Ward and grew up facing many challenges, but her mother encouraged her to focus on school. She was a talented athlete at Elsik High School, playing basketball and competing in track and field. She went to the University of Houston on a sports scholarship, where she studied political science and competed in the heptathlon, winning three NCAA titles. She also won a bronze medal at the 1987 Pan American Games.
After finishing school, Jones became a lawyer and was part of the Houston City Council from 2008 to 2011. She later appeared on a TV show called "Sisters in Law" about female lawyers in Houston. In May 2022, she made history by becoming the first openly lesbian Black woman elected to the Texas state legislature. She has continued to be active in politics and public service.

Jolanda Jones is openly lesbian and was once married to someone who treated her badly. Because of what she went through, she now works to help people in the LGBTQ community and those who face abuse in their homes.
In the year 2000, Jones was described as someone who had always been a Catholic.
