Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week

The event started in 2013 to give Malaysian designers a chance to show their ready-to-wear collections. Each year, more than 150,000 people come to see the shows at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

History

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week was started by Mr. Andrew Tan after he was invited to an event at Buckingham Palace in London. This event was part of the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, which helps new designers show their work to the world. With support from Tourism Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week has grown and traveled around the globe. The event focuses on ready-to-wear fashion, meaning clothes designed to be sold right away. After the fashion week, many of the designs become available in stores for people to buy.
