This is a list of important taxes and trade rules that Germany has used over time. These tariffs helped shape how Germany traded with other countries and managed its economy.
One of the earliest and most important steps was the Zollverein in 1834, which helped different German states work together on trade rules .
Later, Germany passed many specific tariff laws, like the ones in 1879, 1885, and 1887, which set prices on goods coming into the country . Even more laws came in the 1900s, such as the tariffs of 1902 and 1925 .
In 1968, Germany joined the European Economic Community. This big group of countries worked together on trade, using one shared set of rules called the Common External Tariff, which started on July 1 .
