The referee in boxing is the person who makes sure the rules are followed during a match. They have an important job to keep the fight fair and safe for everyone. The role of the referee

The referee in boxing is very important for keeping the fight safe and fair. Before the fight starts, the referee gives instructions to both boxers. During the fight, the referee decides when to start or stop counting if a boxer falls down. The referee also decides when a fighter does something wrong and needs a warning or might lose points.

The referee signals when each round ends. Most importantly, the referee can stop a fight if they think a boxer is in danger from too many hits. In the past, referees also helped score the fights, but now most fights are scored by a group of judges, except in some countries for smaller events.

Attire

A boxing referee usually wears a white or blue shirt, either long or short sleeves, along with black pants, black shoes, and a black bow tie. Sometimes, latex gloves are used for cleanliness. In professional matches, the referee often has a patch on the left side of the chest showing the symbol of the group organizing the fight. They may also have a patch on their left sleeve with the flag of their home country, especially in fights between fighters from different countries.

Criticisms

One big criticism of boxing referees is that their decisions can be very personal. While there are rules to follow, referees still need to use their own judgement, which means sometimes people might disagree with what they decide.
