Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience

Timor-Leste has taken part in the Summer Olympic Games since 2004, when it first joined under its official name, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The country's National Olympic Committee was set up in 2003. Before that, from 1976 to 1996, Timor-Leste competed as part of Indonesia because of a time when the two lands were joined together. In the year 2000, athletes from Timor-Leste competed as part of a special group called Individual Olympic Athletes.

Timor-Leste has also sent athletes to three Winter Olympic Games, which are held in very cold places with snow and ice. Even though many athletes from Timor-Leste have worked very hard, the country has not yet won its first Olympic medal, but people are still cheering them on.
