Tucana Dwarf

The Tucana Dwarf galaxy is a small group of stars found in the area of the sky called the constellation Tucana. It was found in 1990 by an astronomer named R.J. Lavery who worked at the Mount Stromlo Observatory. This galaxy is made up of very old stars and is far away from other galaxies, which makes it special for scientists who study space. Because it is located on the opposite side of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, it helps experts learn more about how galaxies behave and change over time.
Properties
The Tucana Dwarf is a small, round galaxy made up of very old stars. These stars were formed a long time ago, around the same time as the oldest star groups in our Milky Way galaxy. Unlike some other small galaxies, the Tucana Dwarf is not making any new stars right now.
This galaxy does not have much of a certain type of gas, and its metallicity โ a way to measure elements in stars โ is quite low. The stars in the Tucana Dwarf are spread out evenly, without any special patterns.
Location
The Tucana Dwarf is found in the constellation Tucana. It is very far away, about 870 kiloparsecs (2,800 light-years) from us, on the opposite side of the Milky Way compared to most other galaxies in our group, called the Local Group. This makes it important for learning about how galaxies form and move.
It is isolated, meaning it is far from other galaxies, and sits near the edge of the Local Group. It is one of only two small, round galaxies in the Local Group that are not close to the Milky Way or the Andromeda Galaxy. It is thought to have been near the Andromeda Galaxy about 11 billion years ago before moving to its current distant location.
