Baseball

Main article: Baseball at the 2000 Summer Olympics

Baseball changed its rules for the 2000 Olympics. In earlier years, only amateur players could join, so teams like the United States used college players. In 2000, professional players were allowed, but the major leagues did not send their best players. Because of this, the best players were often missing, which is why baseball is no longer part of the Olympic games.
