Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics featured both indoor and beach volleyball events. These games took place in Beijing from August 9 to August 24, 2008. The indoor matches were held at the Capital Indoor Stadium and the Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium, while the beach volleyball games were played at the Beach Volleyball Ground in Chaoyang Park.
A special new volleyball ball was used in these competitions. It had a softer design compared to the older Mikasa MVP200 ball, making the games even more exciting.
Events
Four different volleyball events took place, and medals were given out for each one. These events were:
- Indoor volleyball – men with 12 teams
- Indoor volleyball – women with 12 teams
- Beach volleyball – men with 24 teams
- Beach volleyball – women with 24 teams
