The American Revolution

The American Revolution was a special time when people in the Thirteen Colonies wanted to be their own country. These colonies were part of Great Britain, but they felt they should decide their own rules.

In 1776, leaders of the colonies wrote a very important paper called the Declaration of Independence. This paper said they wanted to be free and start their own country, called the United States. They believed everyone should have a say in how their country is run.

People remember this time because it was when the United States was born. Leaders like George Washington helped guide the colonies. On the Fourth of July each year, we celebrate this important moment when the United States became its own nation.

The American Revolution showed that people could work together to create a new country based on fair ideas. It was a difficult time, but it led to the creation of a new nation with big dreams for the future.
