Anaheim is a fun and lively city in Orange County, California. It is part of the big Greater Los Angeles area and is the most populous city in Orange County.
Home of Disneyland
The city is famous around the world for being the home of the Disneyland Resort. This huge place includes two amazing theme parks, many hotels, and lots of shops. Families love to visit and enjoy the magic!
Sports Teams
Anaheim also has two professional sports teams. The Los Angeles Angels play baseball, and the Anaheim Ducks play hockey. Fans cheer for them at their exciting games.
A Growing City
Anaheim began with fifty German families in 1857 and became an official city in 1876. For many years, it was a quiet farming place. Everything changed when Disneyland opened in 1955. After that, lots of hotels, homes, and businesses grew up around the area. Today, Anaheim is a busy city with many different kinds of neighborhoods.
The Name Anaheim
Anaheim's name has two parts. "Ana" comes from the nearby Santa Ana River. "_heim" is a German word that means "home". So, Anaheim means "home by the river"! Names like this are common in Germany.
Anaheim is a wonderful place to visit or live, full of fun and excitement for everyone!
