Ancient Greek architecture is the way the ancient Greeks built their buildings, many of which still inspire us today.

The Greeks lived in Greece, a country with beautiful hills, islands, and sunny weather. They built many kinds of buildings, but the most famous are temples. These were special places to honor their gods. The Parthenon is the most famous temple, and it still stands tall today!

Greek buildings were made mostly from stone, especially white marble from islands like Paros and Naxos. The sunny climate meant people liked to spend time outside, so many buildings had open spaces. Theaters were built into hills so everyone could watch plays and performances.

Greek architects used special styles for their columns and decorations. These styles were called the Doric order, Ionic order, and Corinthian order. The Doric style was simple and strong, the Ionic style had scrolls, and the Corinthian style had leafy designs. These ideas influenced later buildings all around the world, including modern Western architecture.

Even though many Greek buildings are now old and broken, their designs continue to shape how we build today._
