Meet Carnotaurus

Carnotaurus was a special kind of dinosaur that lived a very long time ago, about 69 to 66 million years back. It lived in South America, especially in a place called Chubut Province in Argentina. This area had rivers, beaches, and many different kinds of animals.

Carnotaurus was tall and had two big horns above its eyes. These horns were different from any other meat-eating dinosaur. It had a strong neck and could run very fast. Even though it was big, it had small arms, just like a few other dinosaurs.

Found by Scientists

Scientists found a very good skeleton of Carnotaurus in 1984. This skeleton helped them learn a lot about this dinosaur. It showed how strong and special Carnotaurus was. The name Carnotaurus means “meat-eating bull” because it looked strong, like a bull. Today, you can see models of Carnotaurus in museums all around the world.

Living Long Ago

Carnotaurus lived during a time called the Late Cretaceous period. Back then, South America was far away from other lands. The place where Carnotaurus lived had many different animals, like fish, turtles, and even other dinosaurs. It was a busy and interesting world!

Fun Fact

Carnotaurus had a very good sense of smell, even better than its eyesight. Imagine a dinosaur that could find food just by smelling it!
