Fasting is when a person chooses not to eat food for a little while. Sometimes, they might also not drink anything. This can be for just a few hours, like before going to bed, or a bit longer.

People might fast for different reasons. Doctors sometimes ask people to fast before certain checks or special treatments. This helps doctors see how healthy a person is. It can also be part of special traditions or holidays in many religions around the world.

Fasting can be a way for people to feel better or to help their bodies. It is important to talk to a doctor before trying to fast for a long time. Remember, eating regular meals is usually very important for staying healthy.
