Fort Lauderdale is a sunny, coastal city in Florida. It sits just 30 miles north of Miami along the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. This city is full of excitement and fun for everyone!
Fort Lauderdale is known as the “Venice of America” because of its many waterways. You can see boats everywhere! It is also called the “yachting capital of the world” because so many people love to sail here. The city has warm weather, sunny days, and lovely beaches that attract millions of visitors each year. Many cruise ships stop at Port Everglades, making it a busy and lively place.
The city has a tropical climate, so it stays warm most of the year. There is a wet season with lots of rain from May to October, and a dry season from November to April. Even in the dry season, you might still see rain. Fort Lauderdale is a friendly place with people from all over the world. It is especially welcoming to the LGBT community.
Fort Lauderdale has many places to explore. Visit Hugh Taylor Birch State Park to hike, camp, or have a picnic. The Bonnet House is a beautiful old home with interesting exhibits. Las Olas Boulevard is a fun street with shops, restaurants, and theaters. You can also enjoy the city's beautiful beaches and nightlife. Every year, Fort Lauderdale hosts a big boat show with amazing boats and yachts on display.
Fort Lauderdale is easy to get around. You can take buses, trains, or fly into Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport. The city is also a popular spot for cruises, with many ships stopping at Port Everglades. Major highways make driving simple too. Whether you love the water, history, or just want to relax on the beach, Fort Lauderdale has something for everyone!
