Giganotosaurus

Giganotosaurus was a very big dinosaur that lived a long, long time ago — about 100 million years ago! It lived in a place that is now Argentina. This giant dinosaur was one of the largest land animals ever found.

People first learned about Giganotosaurus in 1993, when someone found a big dinosaur bone while driving. Scientists were very excited and began to dig. They found many bones and put them together like a puzzle. The name Giganotosaurus means “giant southern lizard.” It was named after the person who found the first bone.

Giganotosaurus was a meat-eating dinosaur with a strong body and sharp teeth. It had powerful legs and a long neck. Scientists think it could grow as long as a school bus! Even though it was huge, it lived in a world with many other interesting animals, like long-necked plant-eating dinosaurs and smaller hunters.

This amazing dinosaur lived in a land with rivers, swamps, and lots of trees. Today, we can learn about Giganotosaurus from the bones we find and the stories they tell. It helps us imagine what the world was like millions of years ago in South America!
