The Herzog August Library is a very special place in Wolfenbüttel, in the country part of Germany called Lower Saxony. It is a big library with lots of old and important books and writings.

People from all over the world come to visit and learn from these old books. Some of the books are from a long time ago, called the Middle Ages and early modern Europe. The library helps keep these treasures safe so everyone can read them.

The library started a long time ago in the 1500s. A duke named Julius collected books and added more over time. Later, another duke named Augustus made the library even bigger. Even during difficult times, the library stayed safe.

Some of the most famous things in the library are very old books like the Gospels of Henry the Lion and a book called Liber Floridus. These books help us learn about history and stories from long ago.
