Who Are Hindus?
Hindus are people who follow a religion called Hinduism. Most Hindus live in India and Nepal, but you can also find Hindus in many other places like Bangladesh, Indonesia, and even the United States.
The word “Hindu” comes from an old name for a big river called the Indus. Long ago, people living near this river were called Hindus. Now, it means a group of people who share special beliefs and traditions.
Why Do We Know About Hindus?
Hindus are one of the largest religious groups in the world, after Christians and Muslims. They have many beautiful traditions, like special holidays and colorful celebrations. Two big festivals are Holi, a happy color festival, and Diwali, the festival of lights.
Hindus have special places they visit, like temples and holy rivers. One very important place is Varanasi near the Ganges River. Many Hindus visit these places for prayers and ceremonies.
Fun Facts
Hindu culture has given us many wonderful things, like beautiful art, amazing architecture, and tasty foods. Hindu ideas have also influenced other religions and cultures, especially in southeast Asia.
Even though Hindus have many different beliefs, they all share a love for their traditions and a sense of community.
