LaGuardia Airport
LaGuardia Airport, often called LaGuardia, is a busy airport in East Elmhurst, Queens, New York City, United States. It is named after Fiorello H. La Guardia, a former mayor of New York City. The airport sits on the northwestern shore of Long Island, next to Flushing Bay.
LaGuardia started in 1929 and opened to the public in 1939. Today, it mainly serves flights within the United States, with a few international ones. Big airlines like American Airlines and Delta Air Lines fly from here. The airport is close to the Grand Central Parkway, making it easy to reach by car.
In 2015, workers began to rebuild LaGuardia. This big project finished in January 2025, making the airport newer and better for travelers. Now, passengers enjoy modern terminals and improved services when they visit.
LaGuardia has three main terminals—A, B, and C—connected by buses and walkways. Terminal B is a favorite spot for American Airlines, while Terminal C, opened in 2022, is mainly for Delta Air Lines. There are also special places for smaller planes and private flights.
Getting to LaGuardia is easy. Buses, taxis, and rideshares help travelers reach the airport. There are also special bus lines called Select Bus Services that go to nearby places. Even though there is no train station at the airport, buses can take you to the New York City Subway. Driving to LaGuardia is possible using the Grand Central Parkway.
