Welcome to Latvia!

Latvia is a beautiful country in Northern Europe. It is part of the Baltic region and sits next to the Baltic Sea. You can find Latvia between Estonia to the north and Lithuania to the south. It also shares a border with Russia to the east and Belarus to the southeast. To the west, it has a maritime border with Sweden.

The biggest city in Latvia is Riga. Riga is famous for its old buildings and history. It is a place where you can see the past and present come together. Latvia has four seasons: cold winters with snow, warm summers, and everything in between. The country has many forests, rivers, and lakes. Animals like deer and wolves live there.

Latvia has a rich culture. One of the most special events is the Latvian Song and Dance Festival. Every five years, thousands of people come together to sing and dance. It is a wonderful way to see how Latvians share their traditions. Latvian food uses local ingredients. You might try grey peas with speck or a soup called sorrel soup. Rye bread is a favorite and is often enjoyed with meals.

Latvia loves sports too. Ice hockey is very popular, and many Latvian players are famous around the world. Basketball, football, tennis, and cycling are also enjoyed by many. Latvia has won medals in the Olympics, showing how talented its athletes are.

Latvia is a country full of history, nature, and friendly people. It is a place where you can explore old castles, enjoy beautiful landscapes, and learn about different cultures.
