Modern Dance

Modern dance is a fun way to move that started in Europe and the United States a long time ago. It began when dancers wanted to move more freely, instead of following the strict rules of classical ballet.

Some of the first modern dancers were Isadora Duncan, Maud Allan, and Loie Fuller. They wore comfortable clothes and created their own ways to dance. They didn’t use the strict steps of ballet.

Later, famous dancers like Martha Graham and José Limón made their own styles. They taught many other dancers, and today modern dance is performed all around the world. Dancers use their movements to show feelings and tell stories.

Modern dance is still growing and changing, with new ideas and styles being created every day. It is a lively art form that lets dancers express themselves in many different ways.
