Naypyidaw

Naypyidaw is the capital city of Myanmar. It is a special city because it was built from scratch, unlike older cities in the country. Before Naypyidaw became the capital, the capital was Yangon.

Naypyidaw became the capital on November 6, 2005. Its name, announced on March 27, 2006, means "abode of the king" in Burmese. This name connects it to old royal cities like Mandalay.

As the home of Myanmar's government, Naypyidaw has many important buildings. You can find the Assembly of the Union, the Supreme Court, and the Presidential Palace here. Even though it is a big city, very few people live there because it is mostly for government work.

The city has hosted important meetings such as the ASEAN Summit and the 2013 Southeast Asian Games. It also has fun places to visit like gardens, a lake park, a herbal park, a zoo, and a safari park. One famous spot is the Uppatasanti Pagoda, which stands for peace.
