The Wonderful World of Norse Cosmology

Norse cosmology is a special way that ancient people from Scandinavia thought about the universe. They had wonderful stories about how everything began and how the world works. These ideas are part of Norse mythology, the old stories and beliefs of the North Germanic peoples.

The Big Tree Yggdrasil

One of the most famous ideas is about a giant tree called Yggdrasil. This tree is very important because it connects many different parts of the world. Imagine a huge tree with branches and roots reaching everywhere! In these stories, gods and other creatures live in different places around the tree.

People and Nature

In Norse stories, natural things like the Sun and Moon have human-like qualities. The Sun is a kind goddess named Sól, and the Moon is a gentle man named Máni. Even the Earth has a person called Jörð. These ideas help people think about nature in a friendly way.

Beautiful Beginnings

The Norse people believed the world began in a special place where hot and cold met. From this place, the gods created the earth, sky, and even the first humans. These gods lived in a beautiful place called Asgard, while humans lived in a place called Midgard. Their stories show how they cared for the world and its people.
