Welcome to Novosibirsk

Novosibirsk is a big, busy city in Russia. It is the largest city in Siberia, which is a huge part of Russia. Over 1.6 million people live here, making it the third-largest city in the country, after Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

A City of History and Growth

Novosibirsk began as a small town called Novonikolayevsk in 1893. It grew quickly because it was built where the Trans-Siberian Railway crosses the Ob River. Today, it is an important place for travel, business, and industry.

Beautiful Places to See

Novosibirsk has many beautiful and interesting places to visit. One of the most famous is the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. It has wonderful performances and a stunning building. Another popular spot is the Novosibirsk Zoo, where you can see over 11,000 animals from around the world. The zoo even has a special area called "Dolphinia" where you can learn about the ocean and sea life.

Fun and Learning

The city has many places for kids to have fun and learn. There is a special train called the Small West Siberian Railway just for children. It runs in Zayeltsovsky Park and has five stops, including one at the zoo. Novosibirsk also has many schools and universities, including Novosibirsk State University, where lots of scientists and students work and study.

A City of Talent

Novosibirsk is proud of its talented people. Famous musicians like Vadim Repin and Maxim Vengerov were born here. The city has many music schools and theaters, including the Novosibirsk State Conservatory and the Novosibirsk Philharmonic. There are also lots of museums and libraries where you can learn about history, art, and nature.

Friendly Cities

Novosibirsk has many friends in other countries. These are called "twin towns" or "sister cities." Some of its friends include Minneapolis and Saint Paul in the United States, Sapporo in Japan, and Mianyang in China. These cities work together and share ideas to help each other grow and learn.

Novosibirsk is a wonderful city with lots to see and do. Whether you are interested in history, animals, music, or just having fun, there is something for everyone in this busy and lively place.
