Solar Panels
Solar panels are special machines that turn sunlight into electricity. They help us power our homes, schools, and even spaceships without using coal or oil. These panels are made of many tiny parts called solar cells, which get excited when sunlight shines on them and create energy.
Solar panels can be found in many places. Big groups of them, called solar farms, stretch across fields. They also sit on rooftops, looking like flat, dark rectangles. Some panels can even move to follow the sun, catching the most light all day long.
These panels are important because they use clean energy from the sun. They help keep our air clean and are used all over the world. Even though they need sunshine to work, solar panels are used in homes, businesses, and faraway places like space, where they store energy in batteries.
People have been studying how to use sunlight for power for a long time. In 1839, a scientist named Edmond Becquerel discovered that certain materials could make electricity when light hit them. Today, solar panels are made better and cheaper, so more people can use them to power their lives.
