Streams are tiny rivers that flow over land. They carry water from hills and mountains to bigger rivers or lakes. You can often find streams in forests, parks, and even in your backyard!

Streams start in many ways. Rainwater and melting snow fill them up. Some streams also get water from springs underground. This makes the water keep moving.

Many animals live in and near streams. Fish, frogs, and dragonflies love cool, clean stream water. Plants grow along the edges, making beautiful spots for walking.

Streams have different names depending on their size. Very small ones are called brooks. A bit bigger are creeks. The biggest streams are rivers. All these water paths help shape the land and give life to many creatures.
