The Thames Estuary

The Thames Estuary is a special place where the River Thames meets the North Sea. It is found in the south-east of Great Britain. This area is interesting because it has both salty sea water and fresh river water. This mix makes it a great home for many plants and animals.

People have used the Thames Estuary for travel and trade for many years. Big ships pass through here to carry goods to the Port of London and other ports nearby. The estuary also has beautiful spots where people can enjoy nature and learn about the environment.

The Thames Estuary has strong tides. Sometimes the water level changes a lot, which makes it an exciting place to visit. There are also wind farms here, like the London Array, which help make electricity for many homes.

The area around the estuary includes places like Canvey Island, Southend-on-Sea, and Clacton-on-Sea. These towns have lovely beaches and are great for families to explore. The Thames Estuary is a very important part of England's coastline and history.
