The Battery

The Battery is a lovely park in New York City. It is right at the very south end of Manhattan Island. The park faces the big open water called the New York Harbor. It is a fun place to visit and explore.

Fun Things to See

The park has many interesting spots. One of the most famous is Castle Clinton. This old fort was built a long time ago, before big ships could carry many people. Today, you can buy tickets here to ride ferries to see the amazing Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Another fun place is the SeaGlass Carousel. It opened in 2015. When you ride it, you sit in seats that look like shiny fish. The carousel glows in the dark and feels like you are underwater!

Important Memories

The Battery also has many quiet places where people remember important times in history. There are stones with names carved on them for people who served their country. Walking along the paths, you can see these special spots and learn about the past.

The park is loved by both visitors and people who live nearby. It is a peaceful place to walk, play, and enjoy being close to the water.
